Tony Award-winner Sarah Jones (and her many characters!) bring not only laughter, but honest conversation to audiences who need it most right now. America, Who Hurt You? is a powerful alternative to the digital silos and political divisions keeping us apart. Both as a podcast and as live shows, AWHY creates an intentional community for audiences across a range of issues and backgrounds. The goal is not to shout each other down, but to find the kind of connection that helps us reclaim our common voice.

As a podcast, AWHY is part interview (featuring past guests including Jane Fonda, Laverne Cox, Jameela Jamil, W. Kamau Bell, Sophia Bush, and many more) and part playful, political exploration of this moment in America through the pluralist cultural lens Sarah is known for. The podcast continues to build on Sarah’s background as a Tony-winning writer and performer known for her one-person shows, such as Bridge & Tunnel and the film Sell/Buy/Date, where she embodies a diverse range of characters from her multiracial background to reflect the complexity of our country.

As a live show, AWHY invites audiences to get to know a dazzling array of characters inspired by Sarah’s real life. Filled with laughter, a healthy dose of outrage for the times we’re living in, and interactive ways for audiences to connect, AWHY is part improvised social commentary (the only option with the current news cycle!) and part catharsis. In connection with America’s 250th anniversary, a special version of AWHY has been commissioned by Oxford University to debut at its first theater for the performing arts, The Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, in May 2026.
